Fist off THANK YOU again for even THINKING about COACHING!!! We know it can be a scary thought to coach but we PROMISE it's easy and actually FUN!! We do our best to help all our coaches be the best coaches they want to be.
RULES: Please read through ALL the rules carefully, so you will be familiar with them and with any calls that our center officials make during the games (if you have a center official).
UNIFORMS: The uniforms belong to the players – meaning we DO NOT want them back at the end of the season. They are theirs to keep. We will list on your team roster the specific size that the parents have ordered. Please MAKE SURE you are giving each player THE SIZE THAT IS LISTED. We ordered EXACTLY what was listed on the registration form. If you have any extra uniform items please let us know so we can get them back from you.
TEAM SOCCER BALL: We will provide you with a soccer ball! The team soccer ball (the one we have provided you with) needs to be brought to EVERY game. It is your team game ball. PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER ON YOUR BALL! We end up with several soccer balls each season with no name or number on them. The home team (the first team listed on the schedule) should use their ball as the game ball each week or the coaches can decide what team ball they want to use before each game. At the end of the season the soccer ball is also yours to keep.
GAME NIGHTS: All games are played on week nights. For U4-U6 teams, it is the COACHES responsibility to make sure the games START AND END on time. Please make sure your players are there and READY TO PLAY at the assigned game time. We have scheduled games back to back, so if the first game of the night starts late, everyone gets pushed back. Also, please make sure at the end of YOUR GAME that the field you are on is CLEANED UP. All garbage removed, water bottles thrown away, etc…it’s not fair to the last team playing each night or our center officials to have to clean up after everyone at the end of the night!
POSITIVE ATTITUDES START WITH US – the coaches, parents, etc. When holding practices and during the games please keep it fun and positive. We have prided ourselves on making this league a recreational league where kids can come and learn the game of soccer and have a GREAT time while doing it. At the end of EVERY game we ask that each team give a cheer for and shake hands with the other team. We expect every team to show courtesy and respect as well as good sportsmanship.
PARENTS: We really do have THE greatest parents!! BUT that doesn’t mean that parents won’t get “fired up” on the sidelines. So far we have not had any issues with this, BUT if you have ANY ISSUES at all with a parent please let us know so we can immediately address it. We want all our coaches, parents and players being uplifting, encouraging and supportive on the sidelines and on the field.
REFEREES: For those of you who will have a center official (U7 & Up) please remember that they are young (14-17 years old) soccer players themselves and someone’s child. If you have a concern with a center official please LET US KNOW and WE will address it. We DO NOT want coaches or parents attacking our officials. They are human beings and will make mistakes or make calls that you or your parents may not agree with. Please treat them as you would if it was YOUR OWN CHILD out there.
COACHING RESOURCES: We are here to help you be the best coach you want to be. Below are some great resources you can use to get ideas, practice games, drills, etc. If you have questions, Kasey Cottam is our technical director and can answer questions you might have about practice length, games to play, etc…
